This jokbal (braised pig’s trotter) restaurant, located near Sindorim Station in Guro-gu, Seoul, has been serving authentic jokbal since it first opened in 2010. Every day, the jokbal is freshly simmered in-house, staying true to tradition. The side dishes 🥗 are clean and simple, perfectly complementing the jokbal: seasoned chives, white kimchi, salted shrimp, ssamjang, garlic, onions, lettuce, and a warm bowl of bean sprout soup. The jokbal 🍖 is prepared the traditional way—simmered in a soy sauce–based broth and then thinly sliced. You can choose between front and hind legs, but the front leg is especially praised for its tenderness. One bite and you’ll know—just as it looks, the meat is unbelievably tender yet pleasantly chewy. There’s no unpleasant pork smell, and the seasoning is subtle, allowing you to enjoy it to the very last piece without feeling overwhelmed. It’s delicious on its own, but dipping it in salted shrimp or ssamjang brings out the meat’s natural sweetness even more. The seasoned chives offer a nutty aroma and refreshing crunch, perfectly cutting through the richness of the meat. Surprisingly, the onion + ssamjang combo is also an excellent pairing. And of course, jokbal wouldn’t be complete without ssam (lettuce wraps) 🥬. Place the meat, chives, garlic, and sauce on a lettuce leaf, wrap it up, and enjoy the explosion of flavors. As you keep eating, you’ll eventually reach the meat clinging to the bone—that’s the best part! Grab it with the provided plastic gloves and enjoy. Just be careful around the toenail area—it’s quite bony. If you like something spicy, try the Spicy Jokbal 🌶. And if you’re with someone who can’t handle spice, you can order a half-and-half platter to enjoy both versions together. Another thoughtful touch is their reheating service: if your jokbal cools down while eating, they’ll warm it up again for you. 🫶 Leftovers can be packed to go, so don’t worry about ordering too much.
