Description

A dak-galbi specialty restaurant located in Mok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Unlike the usual style of stir-frying chicken with vegetables on an iron plate, this place offers a unique twist—grilling it over charcoal on a wire rack. You can choose between marinated or salted dak-galbi. Side dishes include green onion salad, young radish kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, pickled radish wraps, chilled seaweed soup, three kinds of dipping sauces (spicy mayo, garlic mayo, soy sauce with fresh wasabi), garlic, and rice cakes that are grilled together with the chicken. Once the charcoal is placed and the chicken arrives, grill the meat along with rice cakes, king oyster mushrooms, and garlic. During quieter times, the owner may even grill for you. Charcoal-grilled dak-galbi comes out crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and infused with smoky aromas. It’s delicious on its own, but dipping it in the sauces brings out new layers of flavor. Wrapping the chicken in pickled radish slices is a must, but pairing it with pickled perilla leaves creates a sweet and savory balance that elevates the dish. Don’t miss the fun of gnawing the meat right off the bone! Refresh your palate with young radish kimchi or chilled seaweed soup in between bites. If the charcoal weakens, simply ask the staff to replenish it. If meat alone feels a bit heavy, order makguksu on the side. This buckwheat noodle dish, a Gangwon Province specialty, comes as either mul-makguksu (in broth) or bibim-makguksu (spicy mixed). The bibim-makguksu shown in the video is generously portioned, topped with ground perilla seeds, and boasts a nutty flavor. Pairing dak-galbi with makguksu creates an unbeatable combination. If you want to try something beyond the typical stir-fried dak-galbi, this charcoal-grilled version in Mok-dong comes highly recommended. 🙌
