Description
“Kam’s Roasts,” often referred to as the legend of Hong Kong roast goose, is a Michelin-starred specialty restaurant that has held its 1-star rating for an impressive 10 consecutive years. Although it opened in 2014, the restaurant’s recipes are based on family secrets that have been passed down for over 70 years, building a strong reputation for deep, authentic flavors despite its relatively short history. As a famous eatery, long queues before opening are the norm. Through the glass storefront, you can see rows of glossy, perfectly roasted meats that will make your mouth water instantly. Queueing works by taking a number at the entrance and waiting for your turn to be displayed on the screen. ☝🏻 Take-out is also available, and it’s often faster than dining in—perfect for a late-night feast back at your hotel. 😉 Unlike the chewy pork skin often found in Korea, Kam’s ultra-crispy pork skin has a shatteringly crisp texture—each bite is like listening to ASMR. 😮 The restaurant’s signature roast goose is served whole, head included, so be prepared if you’re squeamish‼️ First, a rich peanut-flavored sauce is poured over the goose to enhance its umami, then you dip it into two accompanying sauces to complete the perfect bite. Honestly… the flavor is beyond words. 👍🏻👍🏻 Definitely worthy of its Michelin star. Even the goose head is edible—the brain has a texture similar to Korean agwijjim goni (monkfish innards) and isn’t as strongly flavored as you might expect. Still, this part can be divisive, so it’s up to you whether to give it a try. 🤫 In Hong Kong, roast goose is considered a delicacy rarely found in Korea, making it a must-try during your trip. Naturally, it’s on my food list too. 🤭
