If you're visiting Donghae, you can't leave without trying octopus ๐!Located on the first floor of an apartment building, this cozy local tavern is a favorite hangout for neighborhood residents ๐บ.
They serve endless dishes that are perfect for pairing with drinks, like octopus, sea snails, and savory pancakes, and in the winter, you can even find gwamegi (half-dried fish)!Their side dishes are simple but perfect โ grilled tofu, bean sprout soup, seaweed โ you know the saying: if the side dishes are good, the meal is bound to be great โค๏ธ.
The parboiled octopus here is made with Pacific octopus freshly caught from the East Sea.Do you know why itโs called pi-mun-eo? Because when you boil it, the water turns red, hence the name ๐คญ.When the octopus is fresh, you don't need anything fancy โ just boil it in water and it becomes incredibly tender.
And here's a hidden gem: they use the octopus broth, add homemade fermented soybean paste aged for five years, and make hand-pulled noodle soup (sujebi) โa spicy, deeply flavorful dish thatโs perfect for sobering up after drinks ๐.
As for the sea snails, the owner is strict โ if they canโt source them from their trusted supplier, they simply wonโt serve them.Theyโd rather lose a sale than compromise on quality. ๐We truly respect this kind of dedication ๐๐ป.
