Lan Fong Yuen is a Cha Chaan Teng (茶餐廳) with over 70 years of history. A Cha Chaan Teng is a Hong Kong–style café where you can enjoy local dishes quickly and affordably — it’s basically Hong Kong’s version of Kimbap Heaven🥢 in Korea! The menu is huge and full of simple, comforting dishes, making it the perfect spot for a hearty breakfast. Even during off-peak hours, there’s always a line, but thanks to Hong Kong’s shared table culture, if your party size matches up, you can usually get seated surprisingly quickly.

Their signature Chicken Scallion Oil Noodles and Pork & Egg Fried Rice each come with a free fried egg on top 🍳. Pop the yolk and mix it into the noodles or rice — the rich, deep flavor will instantly hit you. The seasoning is mild, so even those who aren’t used to strong spices will enjoy it. The Pork & Egg Fried Rice, in particular, has that addictive sweet-and-savory balance, reminiscent of soy sauce eggs with braised pork. You won’t be able to stop eating 🤭

For dessert, you must try the legendary French Toast and Pineapple Bun 🍍 that everyone raves about when in Hong Kong! The French Toast is best enjoyed soaked generously in maple syrup — the bread becomes soft and fluffy, yet chewy, making it irresistible ✨. Even two pieces go down easily, especially with a hot cup of coffee ☕.The Pineapple Bun has a crispy, cookie-like crust and a thick slab of butter melted inside, creating a heavenly balance of crunchiness, creaminess, and buttery aroma. This combo is a must-try! 🍍✨

Ah… Hong Kong, the true city of gastronomy. If this is the standard for breakfast, you know you’re in for a treat. 👑👍🏻
